Reflection: For this project, we had to create an editorial layout based on the article given to us implementing plenty of texture. Before this, we had to draw ideas for said editorial layout and scan them into photoshop and illustrator. From there, we had to create the layout and make it aesthetically pleasing by finding useful outlets such as a good color palette, a font pairing, and examples of other editorial layouts to manage space on the paper. Overall I feel I did well with the color palette I chose which offered balance yet eye-catching contrast. My emphasis on texture went very well as seen in the images I used in my layout. I used a wide variety of textures from smooth marble to rough bark-like textures that I believe blanded well overall.

For this project we had to create a text portrait of a person using a full value scale of hand lettering. To begin this project we had to try out different hand lettering styles, create a value scale of those styles, and create a shoe implementing our hand lettering and value scale. Overall, I believe I did pretty decent, I made a very well shaped portrait with plenty of contrast that all in all looks pretty good. But some of the details in the face got lost in translation and I didn't implement my value scale very well, making the space on my paper look only positive and negative with nothing in between.

For this assignment, we had to create a vector portrait using Adobe illustrator. I chose my subject to be comedian Tommy Chong because I had recently seen something about him in the news and have watched all of his and Cheech Marin's movies. I think I did very well on my usage of color in the background as I made it loud but not too much to take away from the portrait itself. I wish I got to work a little more on Photoshop because that is where I'm more comfortable and have more experience but it's good to utilize other programs. Overall, this was one of my favorite projects I've completed in any art class and one of my best works of art in any class so far, I believe this to be true because of the balance I created with the foreground and the background.

For this project, we had to create a number of branding marks based on a color palette and mood board we created. For my color palette, I broke down an image of a blue moon to get a nice mix of different blues and slight purples and I think I did an overall very good job with color in this project. The only thing I didn't like about this project is that I felt I needed to redo my astronaut from my mood board because I felt it looked out of place with the rest of my drawings so I redrew it and think it looks much better/more professional. Although my business was space exploration, I took a lot of keynotes from skateboard companies by using different wild and creative logos to represent the business like my alien, astronaut, and planet. Overall, I believe I did a great job with this project because while I did create a lot of wild mascots and logos I found a way to use unity within all of them and make them look uniform as a business should.
